Citric acid is a natural preservative and acidity regulator, it enhances the action of antioxidants and prevents the browning of fruit and fruit products. It also imparts a sour taste to foods and soft drinks. Furthermore, citric acid can be used as an environmentally friendly cleaning agent and is a cleaning agent against limescale and algae, removes rust from metal objects, and is a natural toilet cleaner. Citric acid can also be used in personal care, including in the bath. Citric acid can be used by all religions, vegetarians, and vegans. It does not cause allergic reactions in people with an allergy to citrus fruits, as citric acid is made from sugar and not from these fruits. Natural products that contain a lot of citric acids are natural lemons which contain 5.4% citric acid. However, the substance is also found in many other fruits and vegetables, such as oranges (2.5%), strawberries (1.2%), currants (2.3%), rosehip (1.4%), red pepper (1 .1%), elderberries (1%) and tomatoes (0.8%). Milk also contains 0.4% citric acid.

citric acid powder Applications

The citric acid powder is often used in commercial products such as cheese spread, sports drinks, compote, margarine, cooking butter, (vegetable) yogurt with fruits, cake and pie, soft drinks, instant sauces, butter, jam, candy, and confectionery, syrup, quark, nuts, coffee, snacks, instant meals, cream, dressings, pastilles, biscuits, vegetable preserves, instant soup, mayonnaise, meat preparations, sugar, fruit preserves, chocolate milk, and fruit milk. It is, therefore, an ideal preservative, and acidity regulator that prevents the browning of fruit strengthens the gel in jams and marmalades, and gives a sour taste to food. Of course, together with baking soda, it is a perfect cleaning agent for limescale and algae, removes rust from metal objects,

Recipes

Lemonade Bring 1 liter of fresh fruit juice to a boil. Add 150 grams of sugar. Stir until the sugar has dissolved. Cool it down as quickly as possible by placing the pan in a container of cold water. Change the water a few times. Dissolve 25 grams of citric acid in a little hot water. Citric acid attacks aluminum and copper. Therefore, use a stainless steel or enamel pan. Let it cool and when it's cold mix the citric acid into the syrup and put the lemonade in clean bottles.
Dishwasher
detergent Citric acid can also be used as a (dish) washing machine cleaner. Use two tablespoons for this and wash without detergent at 95°C. You can also add one tablespoon of Baking Soda for even better cleaning.
Bath fizz cubes
There is a recipe for making bath fizz cubes on the back of the product packaging. In this, a combination is made of citric acid powder with, among other things, Baking Soda.
Descale coffee machine
– Mix 50 grams of citric acid powder with 1 liter of water in a measuring cup. Stir the mixture until the powder is completely dissolved. – Fill the water tank to the maximum with the descaling mixture. Then place the water tank back in the coffee machine. – Press the power button. The device is ready for use when the indicator light remains on continuously. – Place the 1-cup holder with a used coffee pod in the coffee machine. Close the lid and make sure it is properly locked. Note: Always place a used coffee pod in the pod holder during descaling. This pad serves as a filter to prevent the sieve in the pad holder from becoming clogged with limescale residues during descaling. – Place a bowl with a capacity of at least 1500 ml under the spout to collect the descaling mixture. – Press the 2-cup button and let the machine run. Repeat this until the water tank is empty. Do not interrupt the descaling process! – Repeat the process of replacing other used pads to filter the limescale residue. – Rinse the water tank with tap water. Fill the water tank to the maximum with tap water and repeat the process twice. Note: Do not fill the water tank with used hot water or the used descaling mixture. – After descaling, remove the used pod and clean the pod holder to prevent the sieve from clogging. If you have completed all these steps, your coffee machine is completely clean and ready for use again! – After descaling, remove the used pod and clean the pod holder to prevent the sieve from clogging. If you have completed all these steps, your coffee machine is completely clean and ready for use again! – After descaling, remove the used pod and clean the pod holder to prevent the sieve from clogging. If you have completed all these steps, your coffee machine is completely clean and ready for use again!
Background & History
It is found in high concentrations of citrus fruits, but also in kiwi, strawberries, and other soft fruits. Commercially, it is made by the fermentation of molasses by the fungus Aspergillus niger. Citric acid is a substance that occurs in every cell of the body, it is part of the so-called Krebs or citric acid cycle. The citric acid cycle is the last part of a series of chemical reactions that converts sugar into energy. Since every cell in the body needs energy, every cell contains the citric acid cycle and therefore also citric acid. An average adult human will metabolize 1.5 kg of citric acid per day during cellular respiration. Here, citric acid is formed from the combustion (oxidation) of sugars, fats, and proteins into CO2 and water. This releases energy, which the cells will then use to live. Today, this cycle is taught in biology in high school. We cannot exist without citric acid. This citric acid cycle was discovered by the German physician and biochemist Hans Adolf Krebs (1900-1981), who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Medicine in 1953 for this. This is the oldest way to produce citric acid. The method of isolating citric acid crystals from citrus fruits was first carried out at the end of the 18th century by Carl Wilhelm Scheele (1742-1786). The citric acid powder is The method of isolating citric acid crystals from citrus fruits was first carried out at the end of the 18th century by Carl Wilhelm Scheele (1742-1786). The citric acid powder is The method of isolating citric acid crystals from citrus fruits was first carried out at the end of the 18th century by Carl Wilhelm Scheele (1742-1786). The citric acid powder is not carcinogenic. If it were, we would have cancer in all cells, because it occurs in the cell itself in addition to our DNA (hereditary material). On the contrary, it is one of the safest additives (E numbers) available. It is completely safe to eat 100 grams of it at once. It's not tasty, but that's something else. How come there is a story that it is carcinogenic? Dr. Krebs thus discovered the citric acid cycle. Now the German word Krebs is also the word for lobster or cancer. Some action groups misunderstood that in the 1970s. So it has nothing to do with cancer. If there are any indications, it is that citric acid can actually fight cancer.
